On July 25, 2012, the Little Miss Hannah Foundation launched ourselves into the Las Vegas community with our “Rainbows to the Sky” event, our first fundraiser and community event.
DJ Miguel Guidos of Soli Concepts Entertainment kept the crowd going with great music, audience participation, raffles, and the highlight of the evening…three balloon releases sending up over 400 balloons. Each of these releases sent balloons with personal messages written on them up to heaven. They were all incredibly moving, especially the 7:30 pm special children’s release.
There was plenty for the kids to do including face painting, dance exhibitions by Gymcats, Lego building by Bricks 4 Kids, kids karaoke, and kids crafts. Ben & Jerry’s and Crazy Pita supplied all the food for the night ~ ice cream cups and chicken skewers with hummus were perfect for the hot summer night!
City Councilwoman Gerri Shroeder presented the Ostrea family with a very special “Little Miss Hannah Day” proclamation. This date marks what would have been the 4th birthday of Hannah Ostrea, the little girl whose life inspired the creation of this foundation. So the timing of this proclamation was perfect. We had 35 raffles to bid on, and those were a big hit! Thank you to all of the companies and individuals who donated items for our raffles. We were overwhelmed with the generosity!
Best of all, our event was a success! We raised enough money to get a good start to develop workshops and provide activities for siblings and families caring for medically-fragile and terminally-ill children in the Southern Nevada area.
Special thank you to our platinum sponsors: Sun City Electric, Right Now air, Priority Services of Las Vegas, Fast Cash Title Loans, Penta Building Group, Soli Concepts Entertainment, Ben & Jerry’s, Crazy Pita, and The District at Green Valley. Without them, this event would not have been the success it was!
We can’t wait for next year – our SECOND ANNUAL event!
